The Heavy Equipment Operator I assigned to the Office of the Municipal Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in municipal construction, maintenance, and infrastructure projects. The position supports engineering operations by ensuring equipment is properly handled, monitored, and maintained during project implementation.
Key Qualifications
- Must be a High School Graduate, Grade 10 Completer, or have completed a relevant vocational or trade course
- Prior Training or Work Experience is not required
- Must not require eligibility under MC 10, s. 2013 – Category II.
- Must demonstrate good hand and foot coordination
- Must possess skills in operation monitoring and basic troubleshooting
- Must be capable of teamwork and critical thinking in field operations
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment in accordance with safety standards and operational guidelines
- Assist in construction, maintenance, and infrastructure development activities
- Monitor equipment performance and report any operational issues or defects
- Work closely with engineering staff and team members to ensure smooth project execution
- Perform basic troubleshooting and preventive checks on assigned equipment
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Office of the Municipal Engineer
